Soaring up from the "Air Capital of the World," this Wichita-based band has attracted the kind of fanatical response most newcomers only dream of. Based entirely on the strength of its live performances, word of mouth and relentless promotion, King Me has built up a sizable following that is fast bounding out of the Midwest with naked abandon. There's nothing predictable about King Me. A unique blend of influences including U2, Queensryche, Ultravox, Prince, The Doors and Pink Floyd create a potent musical cocktail. King Me melds razor-sharp musicianship with diverse musical styles and aggressive attitude. Songs off the debut CD are hard-hitting expressions of passion, pain, humor, love and lust-in essence, songs "About Life."
Performing with national acts such as Sugar Ray, Smash Mouth, Radio Iodine, Marcy Playground, Seven Mary Three, Brother Cane, Gravity Kills, Self, Bobgoblin and HUM is proof that King Me is formidable and can bring serious enjoyment to the most discriminating audience. King Me tells it like it is, with music that conveys raw energy and emotion. The members of King Me are primarily Kansas natives, and veterans of many popular bands of that region. Aside from the accolades King Me receives as musicians, the band members frequently impress industry associates with their business acumen, professionalism, complete dedication, and their quiz-show prowess. Their marketing efforts, readily admitted as "shameless self-promotion," are numerous and blatant. If P.T. Barnum were alive today, he'd be taking notes from King Me. Their devotion to excellence and openness to new technologies also extends to their instruments, equipment, and their top of the line footwear. Attention to detail is part of what keeps the entertainment value of King Me ahead of the competition. But don't be fooled by all this "sweat-shopesque" hard work. All it takes is one listen to the CD, one live performance, or one conversation with a band member to know that these guys are all about having a damn good time. Luke, Pete, Steve, and Russell love what they do. Their perseverance and work ethic are manifestations of their exuberance for writing and performing great songs that move and entertain audiences. |
